✨ The Mirrors That Became a Basin
*Exodus 38:8 tells us that the bronze basin in the Tabernacle was made from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. In those days, mirrors were not made of glass but of polished bronze — valuable personal items used to admire one’s appearance.
When these women gave their mirrors, they surrendered something that reflected themselves to create something that would prepare others to meet God. The basin was where priests washed before entering God’s presence, a symbol of cleansing and holiness.
Worship often begins with laying down self-focus and turning our eyes toward God.
The things we once used for our own image can be transformed into tools for God’s service.
Even hidden acts of sacrifice, like those of these women, have eternal impact.True beauty is found not in the reflection of a mirror, but in the reflection of Christ in us.
