The year was 1916 and Nelson had just graduated from medical school in his native Virginia. Later that year, he and his bride of six months arrived in China. At the age of twenty-two, he became a surgeon at Love and Mercy Hospital, the only hospital in an area of at least two million Chinese residents. 

Nelson, together with his family, lived in the area for twenty-four more years, running the hospital, performing surgeries, and sharing the good news with thousands of people. Nelson Bell later became known as “The Bell Who Is Lover of the Chinese People.” His daughter Ruth was to later marry the evangelist Billy Graham.

Although Nelson was a brilliant surgeon and Bible teacher, it wasn’t his skills that drew many to Jesus; it was his character and the way he lived out the gospel.

Dr. Bell believed that spiritual gifts were more important than any other talent. Under glass on his desk, he placed a note where he had listed the fruits of the Spirit: “Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Meekness, and Self-Control” and daily tried to exude these gifts among those he served.
 

From a rural American childhood to an international ministry, Dr. Lemuel Nelson Bell was used by God to touch thousands of lives.

 

So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross,  Till my trophies at  last I lay down;  I will cling to the old rugged Cross,  And exchange it some day  for a crown.   *George Bennard was born in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1873. He was the writer "The Old Rugged Cross.” It is arguably the most beloved hymn of all time. After coming to Christ during a Salvation Army meeting, Bennard and his wife became active in the Methodist Church. It is said that he wrote “The Old Rugged Cross” in response to some ridicule he had received. The source or topic of the ridicule isn’t clear, but his response is found in the lyrics of the hymn. His answer was to cling to the cross. He is reported to have said that, for him, “Christ and the Cross were inseparable.” Perhaps it is best that we do not know the specific reason Bennard was ridiculed. Who among us has not faced criticism or torment of some kind? We can relate to his situation without knowing the details — maybe even more so because we do not know the details. We can then apply his answer to anything we encounter.

The answer is always to cling to the Cross. Have you ever been mocked for your faith? Cling to the Cross. Have you ever been misunderstood? Cling to the Cross. Have you endured hardship and heartache? Cling, sweet friend, to the Cross.   Don’t be afraid to bear its shame and reproach because, one day, you’ll exchange it for a crown. Twelve year old Jacob Smith stoop stop an 11,000 feet mountain in big sky. (2019) 

On a chilly morning  in Montana Jacob became the first legally blind skier to complete the legendary run. 

What is the secret? 

His father Nathan on every run speaks to his son over a two way radio and when Nathan tells his son to make a turn or to move in a new direction Jacob obeys instantly. 

One interviewer asked Jacob how much he trust his dad? He said I mean enough to turn right when he tells me to " Turn right "

*we also don't know the paths ahead. There's a good news, our father tells us what to do .. Just  obey our heavenly Father's voice ".

We are not alone because we have got the Almighty God who created the mountains in the first place and He is telling us, what to do and if you believe that God is in your heart and whispering to your ears-

You won't go to bed and not be able to sleep because of what will happen tmrw.. 

Because you'll know tomorrow when you get up and to start to go down/up the mountain. 

God is with you. And he will tell you what to do...The Word of God says....
