                          Grace of God

In the 9th chapter of 2 Samuel, is described a beautiful incident where king David shows grace upon Mephibosheth, who was born in the family of Saul. He was paralyzed in both the legs. He describes his case as that of a ‘dead dog’ before David. A very pitiable state, born in the family of the enemy, worthy of the wrath of the king: Nevertheless, David considered him as a member of his own family and gave him the right to eat daily at the king’s table. What a great grace!

In the book ‘The Grace Awakening’ by Charles Swindoll, is described in figurative language, the arrival of Mephibosheth into the presence of the king.

“The bell for the banquet in the palace of the king rang. King David has arrived at the middle of the table. The smart Amnon is to the left. Tamar the pretty daughter is next to the king. There is Solomon the one who is great in wisdom. The handsome Absalom has come. Joab the great warrior is also present…The banquet was about to begin… Someone who has been invited is yet to come. It is for him is this waiting… Cling, cling, cling… Here comes Mephibosheth with his walking stick. He leaned against the seat assigned to him. The embroidered table cloth covered his lameness. The great banquet commenced.”

There is a scarcity of words to describe the grace of God. Amazing is the grace which came in search of us who were in the destructive pit and in the filthy dirt and saved us and raised us up and seated us in the heaven on the righthand side of the Father.

The predestination of God is by – Grace of God

Our calling is by – Grace of God

Our redemption is by – Grace of God

Our justification is by – Grace of God

Our sanctification is by – Grace of God

Our purification is by – Grace of God

Our glorification is by – Grace of God

Here is what the songwriter sang about the grace of God which started in the past eternity and which continues into the future eternity.

“Grace, O grace, amazing are you, who can describe you”

What a great blessing Mephibosheth received. How wonderful is the grace you who read it received. Hallelujah… It is the grace which we received through the sacrifice on the cross!

The song continues

“I who was the wicked man was brought closer to Him by his  suffering. For this, how much kindness did the Lord of compassion show”

Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given -John 1:16
