The Real Legacy

When I asked in a small meeting, “Which incident first comes to your mind when you think of John the apostle?”

The answer came immediately: He was leaning on the bosom of Jesus.

Not his writings.

Not miracles.

Not his ministry.

But his closeness to Jesus.

In Gospel of John 13:23, we see a beautiful picture:

"One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to Him."

That became his identity.

A man who rested on the heart of Jesus.

When our life on earth is over, what will remain as our legacy?

Not money.

Not property.

Not branded cars.

Not certificates or medals.

Those things fade away.

But small acts of love remain forever.

A visit to someone who was lonely.

A phone call when someone was discouraged.

A small help in time of need.

Even a gentle smile.

Jesus said in Gospel of Matthew 10:42:

"If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones… he will certainly not lose his reward."

Heaven remembers what the world forgets.

So today, let us take one small step:

Show love. Encourage someone. Help someone. Call someone.

Because in the end,

the real inheritance we leave behind is love.
