It was night 11:30. Hetty the young girl who heard something falling onto her blanket woke up from sleep. Immediately she heard the voice of her dad;” fire….”

She understood that her house was on fire. The house which was made of wood was in flames. In great distress, Samuel ran out with his children. Susanna somehow escaped with her two girls. A servant rescued the one-year-old Charles and brought him out of the house. (Out of the nine children in the family, one son alone was in a far away place). Seven of the eight children who were there were brought out safely. 

But they couldn’t find 5-year-old Jackie in that mansion. The house was being consumed in fire. Samuel, the pious father of the house, thought his son Jackie has died and hence prayed “God, I commit my son Jackie’s spirit into your holy hands”.

Immediately, someone cried out “There near the window, Jackie is standing.” One man stood upon another man’s shoulder and rescued him through the side of the window. Samuel, the father of the house praised God, saying “You have saved my family from the fire. Thank You. I have lost my house, but I have lost nothing in reality. For you have protected my family! “ They all knelt down and worshipped God.

Well, who is this Jackie? 

 Is this not the Jackie whom Susanna always used to call “the log snatched out from fire”? John Wesley!… the person who was used by God to snatch out many from the fire of hell. 

Then there is the one-year-old Charles napping as he hears his mom’s lullaby. Charles Wesley! The blessed songwriter who had written thousands of Christian songs!! 

… Let us sing with that family…

  Flames of fire, plagues, troubles, etc, as we see all these, do all our hopes get shattered…? Rest upon the Lord Jesus. He will guide you till the end of your life. Amen!

As she was boarding a flight, Ogilvie, a famous writer noticed a young boy as well, boarding the same flight with remarkable calmness and confidence. He walked up the aisle and occupied the seat beside Ogilvie. As the plane soared high, he took out a drawing kit and began drawing pictures. He did not care about the other passengers, nor about anything else in the plane. On several occasions, the plane was caught in air pockets which caused severe turbulences which shook the other passengers. They were in panic and fear! But the little boy was calm and peaceful. 

When the flight settled back to normal, Ogilvie asked the young boy, “Child, are you not afraid?” And he replied, “No, Madam, my dad is the pilot”! It is amazing that this boy felt safe and secure in the flight only because he knew that the one who is handling the flight is his experienced and able father! He completely trusted his father’s ability to pilot the plane safely.

In these days when fear and anxiety are ever increasing, how many of us can fully believe that our heavenly Father is strong and able to carry us and sustain us? The pilot of our life is our beloved and able heavenly Father!! 

The Eternal God is our refuge; and underneath are the everlasting arms! Deuteronomy 33:27

 

 

സമയം രാത്രി 11.30. തന്റെ പുതപ്പിലേക്ക് എന്തോ വീഴുന്ന ശബ്ദം കേട്ട് ഹെറ്റി എന്ന ബാലിക ഉറക്കമുണർന്നു. ഉടനെ തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ശബ്ദം അവൾ കേട്ടു ."തീ....

അവൾക്ക് മനസ്സിലായി തന്റെ വീടിന് തീപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു .തടി കൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ഭവനം തീജ്വാലകൾ കൊണ്ട് നിറഞ്ഞു.
സാമുവൽ വളരെ പരിശ്രമിച്ച് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പുറത്ത് കൊണ്ട് വന്നു. സൂസന്ന രണ്ട് പെൺകുട്ടികളെയും കൊണ്ട് എങ്ങനെയോ രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. ഒരു വയസ്സുകാരൻ ചാൾസിനെ ഒരു വേലക്കാരൻ സുരക്ഷിതമായി വീടിന് പുറത്തെത്തിച്ചു . (ഒമ്പതു മക്കൾ ഉള്ള ആ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഒരു മകൻ മാത്രം ആ സമയം ദൂരെ ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തായിരുന്നു.)
അവിടെയുള്ള 8 മക്കളിൽ 7 പേരെയും സുരക്ഷിതമായി പുറത്ത് കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.
എന്നാൽ അഞ്ചു വയസ്സുകാരൻ ജാക്കിയെ മാത്രം ആ വലിയ വീട്ടിൽ അവർക്ക് കണ്ടെത്താൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. വീട് കത്തിയമർന്നു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. ദൈവഭക്തനായ ഗൃഹനാഥൻ സാമുവൽ തന്റെ മകനായ ജാക്കി മരിച്ചു എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു. "ദൈവമേ എന്റെ മകൻ ജാക്കിയുടെ ആത്മാവിനെ തൃക്കരങ്ങളിൽ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നു."

ഉടനെ ആരോ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു "അതാ ആ ജനലിന്റെ അരികിൽ ജാക്കി നിൽക്കുന്നു;'
ഒരാളുടെ തോളിൽ മറ്റൊരാൾ കയറി ജനലിന്റെ ഒരു സൈഡിലൂടെ അവനെ രക്ഷപെടുത്തി.
ഗൃഹനാഥനായ സാമുവൽ ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി "
എന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ അങ്ങ് തീയിൽ നിന്ന് രക്ഷിച്ചല്ലോ. അങ്ങേക്ക് നന്ദി. എന്റെ വീട് എനിക്ക് നഷ്ടമായി എന്നാൽ എനിക്ക് ഒന്നും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടില്ല, കാരണം എന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ അവിടുന്ന് പരിപാലിച്ചല്ലോ!
അവർ എല്ലാവരും മുട്ടുകുത്തി ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിച്ചു.

ആട്ടെ! ഈ ജാക്കി ആരാണ്?
സൂസന്നയുടെ കൈയിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങുന്ന ഒരു വയസ്സുകാരൻ ചാൾസോ??

"തീയിൽ നിന്ന് വലിച്ചെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട കൊള്ളി" എന്ന് സൂസന്ന എപ്പോഴും പറയുന്ന ജാക്കി ?
ജോൺ വെസ്ളി... സുവിശേഷത്താൽ നരകത്തീയിൽ നിന്ന് അനേകരെ വലിച്ചെടുക്കാൻ ദൈവം ഉപയോഗിച്ച വ്യക്തി !!

Silent Night... Holy Night

 

In the year 1818, Josef Mohr and his team arrived at a village in Austria to conduct Christmas programs.

They originally planned to conduct a program on a larger scale, however since their musical keyboard was damaged, they decided to conduct the program in a small house. But those were the days when it wasn’t possible to get a replacement for a damaged keyboard.

Joseph started walking all alone through the village road thinking of those verses in the Gospels which talk about the birth of Jesus. He reached the summit of a very beautiful hillock. A great calm! God gave Joseph a song about the birth of Jesus. Don’t you want to know which was that song? It was “Silent Night Holy Night…”

After returning to the village, he sung that song with the help of the guitarist there.

After some days Karl who was a reputed service man of musical keyboards, came to that cathedral. After servicing the keyboard, he asked them to play that song. Franz Gruber the guitarist played the song “Silent Night” in elegant manner. Karl who was so captivated by that song gave it to many.

The following years, this song was translated into hundred languages. Thousands of people sang this song and glorified God.

God was preparing the stage for that song- as the keyboard went bad, Joseph’s program being postponed, his going to a house in the village, experiencing calm at the top of the hill etc..

Thank You Lord, for all things. Thank You Lord, for all the experiences and crosses that bring me closer to eternity.

God has a purpose for all the situations you are going through. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 

Hear the voice of God! Follow Jesus the Shepherd. He is faithful!

1818-ൽ ജോസഫ് മോറും സംഘവും ക്രിസ്മസ് പ്രോഗ്രാമുകൾക്കായി ഓസ്ട്രിയയിലെ ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിലെത്തി.

വലിയ ഒരു പ്രോഗ്രാം പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ജോസഫ് അവരുടെ ഓർഗൻ (Keyboard) കേടായത് മൂലം ഒരു ചെറിയ വീട്ടിൽ ആ പ്രോഗ്രാം നടത്തുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
ഇന്നുള്ളത് പോലെ പകരം ഒരു കീ ബോർഡ് ലഭിക്കുക വളരെ പ്രയാസമായിരുന്ന കാലം.

ജോസഫ് സുവിശേഷത്തിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ജനനത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് എഴുതിയ വചനങ്ങൾ ചിന്തിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ വീഥിയിലൂടെ തനിയെ നടന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം വളരെ മനോഹരമായ ഒരു കുന്നിൻ മുകളിലെത്തി.
വളരെ ശാന്തത ! ദൈവം ജോസഫിന് യേശുവിന്റെ ജനനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഒരു ഗാനം നൽകി.
ഏതാണെന്നറിയേണ്ടേ ആ ഗാനം ??

ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയ അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെയുള്ള ഗിറ്റാറിസ്റ്റിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ ആ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചു.

ചില ദിവസങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം പ്രശസ്തനായ കീ ബോർഡ് റിപ്പയറർ കാൾ ആ കത്തീഡ്രലിൽ വന്നു. കീ ബോർഡ് റിപ്പയർ ചെയ്ത അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു ഗാനം പ്ലേ ചെയ്യാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. അവിടെയുള്ള ഫ്രാൻസ് ഗ്രൂബർ എന്ന ഗിറ്റാറ്റിസ്റ്റ് "Silent Night " എന്ന ഗാനം മനോഹരമായി പാടി. വളരെ സന്തോഷവാനായ കാൾ ആ ഗാനം അനേകർക്ക് പിന്നീട് നൽകി.

തുടർന്നുള്ള വർഷങ്ങളിൽ നൂറു ഭാഷകളിൽ ആ ഗാനം പരിഭാഷ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ലോകത്തിന്റെ 7 വൻകരകളിൽ അനേകായിരങ്ങൾ ആ ഗാനം പാടി കർത്താവിനെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

അന്ന് ആ കീ ബോർഡ് കേടായത്, ജോസഫ് പ്രോഗ്രാം മാറ്റിവെച്ചത്, ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ഭവനത്തിൽ പോയത്, ഒരു കുന്നിൻ മുകളിൽ ശാന്തത അനുഭവിച്ചത്..... എല്ലാം ഒരു ഗാനത്തിന് ദൈവം പശ്ചാത്തലം ഒരുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു....

നന്ദി നാഥാ എല്ലാറ്റിനും .എന്നെ നിത്യതയോട് അടുപ്പിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ അനുഭവങ്ങൾക്കും, കുരിശുകൾക്കും, .....നാഥാ നന്ദി ....

ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ കടന്നു പോകുന്ന എല്ലാ അവസ്ഥകൾക്കും പിന്നിൽ ദൈവത്തിന് ഒരു നല്ല പദ്ധതിയുണ്ട്. " ശാന്തമാവുക, ഞാൻ ദൈവമെന്നറിയുക: സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 46: 10

On 7 June 1979 Napalm bombs were showered on Vietnam.

A 9-year-old girl named Kim Phuk who had taken refuge in a Buddhist centre ran out in to the road screaming, because her body was half scorched by burns from the bombing. Her two relatives were killed, and her clothes were all burnt and charred. 

The photograph of Kim crying aloud and running through that street called No.1, was published throughout the world. Nick Ut, the photographer who captured the image that forced America to end the bombing, took the girl to a hospital where she had to undergo 16 surgeries in 14 months. How dreadful is the story of this little girl called, Kim!! 

After she was healed, Kim wanted to become a doctor and provide care and comfort for the many who were burnt or wounded in the war. But she was disappointed because the government rejected her good intention. So disappointed was she, that she even contemplated putting an end to her life. Hoping to find some comfort in religion, in 1982, she visited a library and began to read the various religious books there. Among them she came across a New Testament in Vietnamese. Reading through the gospel accounts she came across Jesus Christ who was crucified as the despised and rejected one. She then went on to attend a Christmas programme and came to know about Jesus, the Prince of peace. She believed in Jesus and accepted Him as her own Saviour and Lord. Thus, she received peace and joy from the Lord!

Thus, the girl who came to be known as the Napalm girl, encountered Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. Later she got married and she now lives in Canada with her husband and two children. 

In due time her life and activities became a blessing to many! She was selected as the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO. She also founded the Kim Foundation which serves the scarred and wounded in war, and many such suffering men, women and children.

Today Kim says, “My faith in Jesus has enabled me to forgive those who have hurt and scarred me. It has enabled me to pray for my enemies rather than curse them. And it has enabled me not just to tolerate them but truly to love them. Today, I thank God for that picture. Today, I thank God for everything—even for that road.  Especially for that road.” 

That’s right! There is only one answer for all questions in life … Jesus Christ!

‘Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.’ 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Carinette, who is among the 57 orphans in an orphanage in Haiti, was very happy that day. What could have made this 7-year-old child so different? The children in the orphanage eat the same rice and beans, follow the same schedule and play the same games in the same playground. But what’s the secret of the joy Carinette alone enjoyed? If asked, she would say, “It is my hope and expectation that from a distant land two people will come to take me home; my dad and mom who have adopted me as their own daughter … they know my name, my likes and dislikes, joys and sorrows … they know everything. And also, they have prepared a very large room for me in their home, and they have framed and hung my picture on the walls of that room. Everybody in that house know me very well. Do you know how much my daddy loves me?? He has spent a huge amount to complete all arrangements to take me home. Without being asked Carinette opened her bag and showed a photograph. “See, this is my daddy, and this is my house …” She kept talking endlessly.

As she was talking, in a distant land, many people were making the arrangements to receive the new heir to the house. As she recounted all these, Carinette’s eyes were fixed on the gates of this children’s home alone. Is it my daddy who is at the gate now?

The One who knows us, the One who paid the ransom and redeemed us, the Lord who is preparing a house for us, He is coming soon! In this world filled with cares and worries, what makes us different like Carinette, is the blessed hope. 

May the Hero of all history talk personally to you. May you find in Jesus the answer to the deepest needs of your life. May you remember your highest privilege: you are known by God and cherished by heaven. Keep an eye on the front gate. Your Father will show up to take you home before you know it

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be. John 14:1-3

There are not many days left 

For Jesus the Christ to return,

To give us the reward,

And for our afflictions to end?

He who has prepared many mansions for us

Will come in the clouds to meet us in mid-air

1979 ജൂൺ മാസം 7-ാം തീയതി വിയറ്റ്നാമിൽ നാപാം ബോംബ് വർഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

ഒരു ബുദ്ധമത കേന്ദ്രത്തിൽ അഭയം പ്രാപിച്ച കിം ഫ്യൂക്ക് എന്ന 9 വയസ്സുകാരി ശരീരം പാതി പൊള്ളലേറ്റ് റോഡിലൂടെ കരഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് ഓടി .അവളുടെ രണ്ടു ബന്ധുക്കൾ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. കിമ്മിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം മുഴുവൻ കരിഞ്ഞു പോയി. നിലവിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് No.1 എന്ന വീഥിയിലൂടെ ഓടിയ കിമ്മിന്റെ ഫോട്ടോ ലോകം മുഴുവൻ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. യുദ്ധം നിർത്തൽ ചെയ്യാൻ പ്രചോദിതമായ ഫോട്ടോ എടുത്ത നിക്ക് എന്നയാൾ അവളെ ഒരാശുപത്രിയിലാക്കി. 

പതിനാല് മാസങ്ങൾ പതിനാറ് സർജറി വേണ്ടി വന്ന കിമ്മിന്റെ അവസ്ഥ എത്ര ഭയങ്കരം.

സൗഖ്യമായതിന് ശേഷം ,ഒരു ഡോക്ടറായി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ മുറിവേറ്റ അനേകർക്ക് ആശ്വാസമായിത്തീരാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച കിം നിരാശയായി .ഗവൺമെന്റ് അതിന് അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നില്ല.
വലിയ നിരാശയും ദു:ഖവും അനുഭവിച്ച അവൾ ജീവിതം അവസാനിപ്പിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അല്പം സമാധാനത്തിനായി 1982ൽ ഒരു ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ കയറി മത ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ പലതും പരതി. ആ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരു പുതിയ നിയമം (ബൈബിൾ ) വിയറ്റ്നാം ഭാഷയിൽ അവൾക്ക് കിട്ടി .സുവിശേഷ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ വായിച്ച അവൾ " നിന്ദാപാത്രമായി ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട "ക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ച് അറിഞ്ഞു. തുടർന്ന് ഒരു ക്രിസ്മസ് മീറ്റിംഗിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത കിം " സമാധാന പ്രഭുവായ '' യേശുവിനെ സ്വന്ത രക്ഷകനും കർത്താവുമായി സ്വീകരിച്ചു: അവൾക്ക് വലിയ സമാധാനവും സന്തോഷവും ദൈവം നൽകി.

അങ്ങനെ നാപാം പെൺകുട്ടി ( Napalm girl) എന്ന് ലോകം വിളിച്ചവൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ പ്രകാശമായ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ അറിഞ്ഞു. തുടർന്ന് അവളുടെ വിവാഹം നടന്നു. കുടുംബമായി ഭർത്താവിനോടും രണ്ടു മക്കളോടും ഒന്നിച്ച് കാനഡയിൽ താമസിച്ചു.

പിന്നീട് അനേകർക്ക് അവളുടെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ആശ്വാസമായിത്തീർന്നു .

തുടർന്ന് കിം യുനെസ്കോയുടെ ഗുഡ് വിൽ അംബാസഡറായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. .
കിം ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ എന്ന സംഘടന മുഖാന്തരം കിം യുദ്ധത്തിൽ മുറിവേറ്റവർ തുടങ്ങി അനേകർക്ക് ആശ്വാസമേകി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.

സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ കർത്താവായവൻ താൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എല്ലായ്പോഴും സകലവിധത്തിലും സമാധാനം നല്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; കർത്താവു നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരോടും കൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.
