Edward Kimball, a Sunday school teacher in Boston had the earnest desire that all the children in his Sunday school should know Jesus personally. So, he decided that every Saturday, he would meet each child personally and share the gospel with them. One of the children worked in a shoe store. He went to the store and shared the gospel with him in the shoe storeroom. The child who heard the gospel in that room filled with shoes, received Jesus as his Saviour. That child was DL Moody.
Later the Lord used DL Moody to lead many people to Christ. Wilbur Chaman came to believe in Christ through Moody’s ministry of the Word, and Chapman went on to become an evangelist.
In the gospel convention that Chapman conducted at Chicago, the sport star called Billy Sunday was saved. Billy Sunday lead many other sport stars to Jesus the fountain of life.
At a crusade in which Billy Sunday preached, a young man called Mordecai Ham received salvation. Mordecai went on to preach at gospel meetings, and in one such meeting Billy Graham surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. And we know that the Lord used Billy Graham for world evangelisation.
The Sunday school teacher Edward Kimball took his responsibility of teaching God’s word on Sundays very seriously. Kimball’s desire to see the children in his care know Jesus Christ personally, was compelled by his love for Jesus Christ, and we have seen the fruit the meeting he had with each child. How great is the simple deed every man does out of his faithfulness to Christ!!
**Five loaves of bread …. two fish
Two pennies
One talent
A jar of perfume
A visit … a gospel tract … a phone call
The gospel message shared with a person
A prayer … a drop of tear …
None of these is small in the sight of the Lord.
Lord, with a broken heart I pray, I now realise that it is not the magnitude of the work that is great, but the fact that I do it for the glory of Jesus Christ. Help me Lord, to take one step forward. Amen.
O LORD, do not Your eyes look for truth? Jeremiah 5: 3
‘… the LORD will work for us, for the LORD is not restrained to save by many or by few.” 1 Samuel 14: 6
For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plump line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the eyes of the LORD which range to and fro throughout the earth.” Zechariah 4:10
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
