Last few years several people travelled a lot. However, the last few months were those when these people travelled far less. During the times of lockdown, memories of our various journeys must have filled the minds. Even though our journeys were filled with happiness, travelling with much luggage were quite tiring.

But in our life journey, carrying the baggage of the burdens of life is far more difficult. The burden of sins, troubles of life, sicknesses, anxieties, ..so goes the list of the burden which people carry. However, Jesus gives a message of hope to those who are tired carrying the burdens of life. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

The pilgrim in the book “The Pilgrim’s Progress” was much weary, being heavily burdened. However, as he committed his life at the cross of Jesus, he was set from all his burdens and continued his travel. Let us look at the promises in the Word of God.

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalms 68:19.
“Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken”. Psalms 55:22
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1Peter 5:7.

An article named ‘Footprints’ have comforted my heart greatly. He saw in dream a man walking holding the hands of Jesus in his days of happiness, and saw four footprints on the sand. He then said “Thank You Jesus”. But during the days of pains, when everyone had deserted him, he saw only two foot prints. He asked Jesus; “Did You too desert me?” The Lord Jesus responded thus “In the days of happiness I held your hands to help you walk, while in the days of sorrow I took you in my arms and carried you. The footprints which you see now are not yours, but they are mine..!!”

There is a song composed by a man named Joseph Scriven named “What a friend we have in Jesus”.
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
  O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
  Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
  Thou wilt find a solace there.

It is enough you journeyed carrying much burden. As an intimate friend, Jesus the Lord is with you. I trust you sang the song above, with commitment. “Who is this that comes up from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved?” To this question, respond to the daughters of Jerusalem thus: “It is none but me, whom Jesus loved!!” Hallelujah!!
Start the day by lifting your hands in liberty, to glorify God. May God bless you.
